The Confident Answer

© Ethan Lofton, via Flickr.comSelfies invented by the son of a river god

were rediscovered millennia later. Image

betrays shortcomings of imagination. Look

at the young couple next to a fruit tree

with a sarcastic snake hanging out –

their genitals covered, the fake navel

exposed. Shouldn’t it be other way round?

Be ready then to embrace the Earth

featuring a host of dinosaurs’ bones

implanted to stir up curiosity,

the sky of remote-controlled stars,

and elastic time that could be stretched from

six thousand of something to twenty billion

of something and shrunken back

to a cheerful statement of ignorance.

The bogus universe we are thrown into

reveals vitality of a circular connotation:

it inspires breeding of mud-made figurines.

Keep asking the same question again and again.

Expect the confident answer.
