Maple © LadyDragonfly via flickrIf your heart and soul were a maple tree

What would the distilled syrup of your life be?

It can be painful to really tap

Into that indomitable flow of sap

But such powerful sweetness is better shared

Poisonous thoughts are better off aired

Your innermost self spread out on the page

Can free you from your mind’s own cage
